Hello Everybody,
Today is my first post as the DT for Crafter's Corner blog and I am excited and equally nervous.:-)
The project that I want to share with you today is a box I altered ( I might be a little obsessed with boxes ).
This was an old cutlery box that I gessoed, painted and then covered with the gorgeous Prima Zephyr papers using Mod Podge Matte . The papers were distressed and inked with distress inks.
On the top of the box, I have a small canvas which is covered in handmade mosaic/art tiles. For this, I just cut a bunch of images from various papers that I had and stuck them down on thin chipboard with Modpdge.I used Glossy Accents to seal the images.
I also used Crackle accents on the tiny butterflies and the "Happy' letters. After that,it was just a matter of arranging everything in a pleasing manner. If you don't have any papers with images, you can always find free digitial collage images online.Google is your friend.:-). Shalini also has some gorgeous Prima Clay Tiles in her store.
All the sides of the box are textured using the Crafter's workshop stencil and modeling paste.I used two different stencils (the names will be in the product list).I also stuck down some lace scraps with mod podge to add more texture. The rest of it is decoration with Mulberry flowers, laces and trims. The inspiration for the mosaic tiles comes from here.
Here are some pictures of the sides and some closeups. Click on the pictures for a better view.
