Altered art Bottle and Week 3 Candy winner

Hello Everyone.

This is Pallavi and today is my turn to post an inspiration project for you AND announce the 3rd winner of our blog candy. By the way, have you participated in our blog celebrations and don't forget there are still a few days left to join our Current Challenge.

Today, I am going to show a project that I attempted with Rock Candy Distress crackle paint and Graphic 45 papers. I say 'attempt', because honestly I did not know till the end whether I will be successful in making a half -decent project. I think it turned out okay. I was looking for a dark grungy look and I got that,so I am happy. I know that it's not everybody's favourite style of crafting, but sometimes I like to move away from the pretty pinks and explore my dark side. Evil laughter.:-)

(I had a hard time taking a decent picture. The colour in the picture looks more purplish but its actually more of a red in reality)

Anyhow,I used the Rock Candy crackle paint for my background and tons of mists and inks to achieve the effect I wanted. I hope you can see the fabulous texture I got in the pictures.

I used the Graphic 45 French Country and a little bit of Typography paper for the label and borders.I used a lot of different moon-shadow mists and some starbursts for the background colour. I also used distress inks to define the crackle texture.

A close look at the gorgeous texture

Here is a list of supplies I used :

Clear Rock Candy Distress Crackle paint
Distress inks : Black Soot,
Ideology Ornate Plate
Little Lindy's Green : Mystic Malachite
Little Lindy's Red : Poinsettia red gold
Gossamer Gold Moonshadow mist
Windmill Charm
Mulberry Flower
Matte Multimedium

And now, onto the third winner of our blog Candy. Drum roll please.....The 3rd random winner of our awesome blog candy is.No. 20 and that is.....

Sindhu Manokaran.

Congrats Sindhu! Please contact us at info@crafterscorner.in to claim your prize. Please mention 'random winner-3' in the subject line.
For the rest of you, don't lose hope! There's one more chance to win. To participate ,check the rules here.

'CHARM'ed by trinkets!! :) and week 2 candy winner!

Hello everyone!

So good to be here, talking to you all again! :D I couldn't be happier when Shalini asked me to make CAS stuff for the blog. 'Clean and Simple' is totally my type!

Thanks a lot Shalini, for the awesome offer!

I'll announce the winner at the end of this post, you'll have to read all that I write, appreciate my cards and only then check who the winner is! :D Wait... I like guessing games when I'm not the one who would be guessing! Let me give you a hint... The winner's name starts with 'S' and ends with 'I' :p

For today's post, I am going to showcase a couple of charms and a trinket. I had no idea what I would do when Shalini called and asked me to use charms and trinkets on CAS cards/ layouts! I said, ''OK...OK...yeah, I am sure I'll come up with something good!'' But the truth was I had no damn idea how I was gonna use them! :p I am not at all good when it comes to using charms.

Enough of my blabbering! The first card showcases a beautiful key charm. It's called the 'Daisy key charm'. The card as you can see is a pretty simple one. Just some pretty paper, CS, charm, ribbon and a sentiment. If you are someone who makes a sketch before you start making a card, it would hardly take half an hour to finish this one!

Supplies used-
Daisy key charm
Fairy rhymes paper pad
HA Cup O' Joe ink from 'Quiet morning' pack.
The butterfly was paper pierced from the same PP I used on the card and glossy accents was added.

The next card is a shaker card. I fell in love with shaker cards! They look so awesome and elegant, don't you agree? Here is my card showcasing one of the most beautiful charms- Eiffel tower charm!

 Supplies used-
Elegant Eiffel tower charm
HA Cup O' Joe ink from 'Quiet morning' pack.

My last card for today showcases the adorable Isabella trinket, cute mulberry flowers and awesome fillers.
Here it is! I am totally in love with this card!!

Supplies-

Isabella trinkets
Jolee's Boutique spring birds sticker
mulberry flowers (two layer retro flowers)
fillers (will be online on the store very soon!)
Fairy rhymes paper pad
HA Cup O' Joe ink from 'Quiet morning' pack.

I hope I've inspired you enough to use these pretty embellishments on your cards. :) Do leave me some love!

Now for the announcement you all have been waiting for, that is in the case you haven't scrolled the page to see who the winner is! :p

Our second random winner is No. 15

Mixed media walldecorater frame-unleasing those ohh-so-fond-of memories !!

Hello crafters ! Am back again with a mini post for you today.I believe you guys were having an awesom gala time with so-very festive mood of  the Durga Puja/Dusshera as well as Shalini's awesome candy of our blog anniversary !!
Our dear DT Riti have challenged us with an awesome challenge " Cheers To New Beginnings ” and our so apt product of the month being Graphic 45 Papers & Distress Crackle Paints who would think of missing a chance to join in the fun-challenge !!

So,I am here with a mini fun tutorial for you using this so-fun-to-work-with products!
Yes you hear it right! A mixed media walldecorater frame to uphold the classic old memories, using a few old photo clips.

This time, the junky lady recycled an old light plywood plane, which I collected it sometime back from my storeroom(it was a frame for some old scrambles and puzzles)and a jute mat for the base support.

Then comes the real magic--a good amount of layering on this plywood skeleton as follows:
Step1- An uneven coating of liquitex modeling paste with a tint of green acrylic to give it an uneven brick-kind historic look.
Step2- A thin coating of gesso
Step3- Finally higlighting random areas and creating more depths using distress stain(vintage photo) and my Little Lindy-Sweet Treats(Cotton Candy Pink: Starbust spray,Dark Chocolate Truffle: Starbust  stain,Sunset Pink: Glitz Spritz).
Step4-Dry it with a heat gun.

So as we are done with the base of our project and keep it aside. Now moving on to the embellies making.
As I intended to give my project a garden look, so first thought which came to my mind was I need to have a fence for my garden. So for making it I used a medium thick coating of distress crackled paint on the leftover soft plys from the puzzle board with a touch of the Dark Chocolate Truffle: Starbust stain.

Here,we are done with the fencw and for some more embellies I used the lovely fuzzy cut out of the G45 Secret garden florals. I used the paper pad for the clock face too..Ohh I so very love this lovely sheets!!

So dats it .With a little sprinkle magic of pixie dust all over your work...you are done, ain't it quite simple !!

(Caution: Picture heavy post)--(Please click on the pics for a better and detailed view)
Guys now hold on your breath, coz if you are aware of my posting style, you might be knowing that before I showcase the entire project,I generally give sneak peeks of the project from different angles as I LOVE building deep suspence :P !!And then when I am near about exhausted projecting every possible angle,I show the final picture...I hope you guys have the patience and bear with me...I know I blabber a lot !
So here you go....

Sorry to interrupt you guys : in case you are curious about those pics,in clockwise order(me,my mom and mama, and the lil toddlers are my mom and mama in their childhood days-my most favourite pic)

And in the snippet below, that beautiful lady on the beach is my granny ^_^ !

Enough with the sneak peeks,I believe now its time to show you the entire piece!! So here it is...

I believe there was some small piece of useful information for you guys in that (super-long) story ;).

Before I sign off, here's a list of the products I used to make this walldecorater:

Gesso
Distress Stain(vintage photo)
