Romantic play with PLAID!

Hellooo...
It's THURSDAY and am here with my plaid play for this week! When it's a mile stone birthday or a wedding anniversary you do want to make something special and if its worth a display at home you want to be doubly sure that it catches every body's attention!
Today I have upcycled 2 bottles with some romantic chalk paints, Imperial and River walk (they do sound romantic, don't they???) teamed it with a collage frame.

The process

I started by coating the bottles with gesso and then doing some texture work on it. I have stuck some adhesive pearls and also hand drawn some texture using texture paste through a cone.

Once dry, I gave the bottles a coat of River walk, chalk paint. I love the beige color. it is so vintage already!

As the base color dried, I took some multi surface paint, Bark brown and applied it around the textured area. Immediately spritzed some water and wiped it using a rag cloth. This gave some depth to the textures area and ofcourse made it more vintage!

It was time to take out the red! Look at the vibrancy here...love the IMPERIAL. I coated this in the central patch, allowed it to dry and distressed the inner edges with brown again.

I followed the same technique but reversed the colors in the other bottle.

Here is how both the bottles look after a coat of satin varnish. Not done yet, they wanted company! So decided to make a picture frame to compliment these bottles..

I took out paper scraps in tones of red, black and beige and cut them to small patches to fit the frame. Once I liked the collage, I went about adhering it with mod podge,. The base of the frame was given a coat of black and I gave some spacing between the paper tiles, which gave it the mosaic look.

That's the frame done! I have a chipboard sentiment that I tinted with the wood tint and gave a metallic brass highlight.

The frame and the bottles were given a coat of Home decor satin varnish and now they were ready to pose as a family.

Mothers Day with PLAID, part1

Hello lovelies...

Rupa here....It's Thursday and am back after a much needed break . I had visited my parents and now I am all set to work!

Today's post is dedicated to all MOTHERS across the globe. I have video tutorial on how you can alter a plain white wallet and customize  it using PLAID products!



I have worked with CHALK PAINTS, MULTI SURFACE PAINTS, MOD PODGE, SATIN VARNISH and STENCILS from Plaid this time.

Sequined Superman !!

Good Morning Everyone


Today I am sharing a Book- Box card which I have made on superman theme, and it is to be gifted to someone who is fan of Superman...
Without wasting time, let's get started..
Mind you it’s a picture heavy post and will mention the list of supplies used in the end of the post.

I have used loads of images of superman which I have googled and downloaded.. I am sorry if in case I missed giving any due credit to anyone.. these images were downloaded from free printables.

Let’s move ahead on the project, I have used loads of dress my crafts sequins and Mod podge to make this project.

This is a huge book box card, measures 12x12 inches in size.

That's how the binding looks like...

On the top of the card I mean the cover I have made a big shaker element, which holds loads of sequins, all from Dress my crafts Crafters corner.

 I cannot get enough of the beauties .. some more pictures from different angels..

How to make shaker top- 

-Taken two 1/2 inch strips, measuring 8 inches length 
-Another two pieces 1/2 inch strip of heavy Cardstock 3'7/8 inch 
-double sided foam tape,
-Glitter foam sheets 

Step 1 - make box with double sided tape first 
Step 2 - add card stock strip above the layered foam tape
step 3 -  Add another layer of double sided tape on Black card stock strip 
Step 4 - Add all the elements you want inside the box.

I have added the superman cut out and dress my crafts sequins inside it. And 

Step 5- finally covered the same with acetate sheet.
Step 6- Lastly added the foam glitter strip to cover/ hide the foam tape to complete the look.

I have fussy cut this superman logo and added on the band and have attached Velcro to make this closure band.

On the base I have done some stamping, heat embossing and decoupage...

This actually reminds me of comic book page and I totally love way how it turned out.

I have used Dimensional Mod podge to make Faux epoxy stickers..

Decoupaging on Plastic Tutorial and Liquid Leaf

Decoupaged Box

     Hi crafters Dr Sonia here to share a 2nd project with Liquid Leaf .Sharing a mini tutorial on decoupaging a plastic container  with  gorgeous  Bob n Betty papers .I  jazzed up the edges of the container with fabulous  Copper Liquid Leaf to bring out a uniform and rich metallic copper theme to the project.

The flowers were made by heat embossing in copper some Heartfelt creations Botanical Wings  stamps.

The heat embossed parchment flowers were randomly inked with Distress Inks to match the colors of the florals in the pattern paper.

I have been adding lots of tiny pearls to my projects ever since I got the Crystal Katana as its so quick and easy!

Used the Crystal Katana to add the pearls on the edges of the paper and on the tiny plastic butterflies

I used the  Made in India Ornate Annie papers designed by the talented Deepika Sharma and which is sold exclusively at Crafters Corner .

For anyone wishing to start decoupage these are the Basic tools of the trade!

Decoupaging on Plastic Tutorial

1. Decoupage Glue- most popular is Modpodge
2. Scissors - normal and fine if you want to fuzzy cut pictures to decoupage
3. Scale- to measure out the sides of your projects and pattern paper
4. Pen/ pencil to help mark your pattern paper and cut
5. Squeegee- I have used a different type of plastic squeegee in my Sospeso Trasparente projects which is rather nice but totally in love with the squeegee in the Mod podge kit because of its rubbery nature and wedge spage at its ends which allows one to reach awkward nooks and corners like I will show in the subsequent pictures
6. Not shown in the picture : Sanding / distressing tool and
7. Brushes to apply modpodge - use sponge brushes or regular brushes

Measure your project and cut pattern paper to line it. I personally like to cut slightly less than the dimension of the side to be covered as I hate to later sand down and cut the paper once it is stuck to a project.

If your plastic is super smooth ,sand it to give it a grip .

Apply decoupage glue using a brush as shown above[ the brush I am using above comes with the Plaid Decoupage Kit] - dont add too much glue as it will just wrap and wrinkle your paper.

Stick on your pattern paper starting from one end of your project.

You get the best results on decoupaging if you remove excess glue from under you paper and here comes the advantage of having a squeegee. Use the squeegee to firmly but gently [ too much force and you will slide your paper off the project!] slide over your paper and the excess glue will come out from the edge of the paper at the end and you can simply wipe it off.

Using the squeegee you can easily slide into corners which are otherwise difficult to reach as you can see in the picture below.

I have used the squeegee  to get a proper adhesion of the pattern paper in the depths of the container I was lining .

Once the paper had dried you can give a top coat of mod podge if you wish and later seal it off with a varnish if you want.

Notice the uncovered rather unsightly looking exposed edges of plastic  in the project photo above-- well I could line it with paper but that would involve quite  a bit of hard work so I took the easier and more fun way out by painting the edges with Liquid Leaf .

I used a thin brush to paint the edges of the container using Copper Liquid Leaf and added matching flowers with Copper heat embossing!

MOD PODGE CRACKLE MEDIUM

Good Morning Friends 

This is Isha here today!! Hope you all doing good :)

Today I am here to do a quick product review on MOD PODGE CRACKLE MEDIUM 

Mod podge crackle medium :Add a crackled coat to the Mod Podge on the top of your project. You’ll need to add a contrasting paint color over the top to make it show up – but you’ll like the finished look.

Result: Ultra fine, eggshell crackle.

I hope you all have an idea now what this product is all about. I have quick and easy pictorial for you all, Lets get started : 

 

I have taken Mod Podge Crackle medium and some Folk art acrylics colors 

And you can never get enough of COLLAGE CLAY goodness, I have used mine strawberry collage clay with folk art Magenta color and Chevron stencil to make some fun background,

I have taken some clay on craftsheet and added few drops of acrylic color

                                    Here is some textured goodness with collage clay

 Now lastly I have applied generous amount of Mod Podge Crackle medium. You got to be cautious while applying crackle medium, make sure you move your foam brush in one single direction.

Voila!!

Can you see the eggshell cracks.. 

I have allowed it to dry for more then 24 hours.

Once dried I have distressed the surface with  spun sugar distress inks and wiped the excess ink with the help of an tissue.

With Mod Podge crackle medium you can apply to any surface and get this cool aged crackle effect.
