Mixed Media Altered Frame

Hello again, everyone.............. This is Suzna here.
I'm excited to share with you a mixed media frame, I made using the DMC new product beautiful oval resin frame. I love love this frame. I cant express my feeling here, Its beautiful and low coast, dont miss to buy this beautiful frame.

All the product details are in end of this post. So keep finding them and make your own creation.

So lets discuss about how i made this ..........Okay

As usual i start with black gesso, before going any metallic paints use black gesso (alteration art). Thats give you awesome effect. Here i did 3 to 4 layer coloring (very thin coloring layers )

These are the first layer metallic paints

You can see green effect on my frame

Purple(Dark velvet) effect on my frame

2nd layer Metallic wax: Just random coloring on my frame

See my frame, how its look like. This is okay, but i want something more.  So i decided to add patina effect paints.

In between i am designing inside decoration on frame. So i took canvas sheet, cut it as oval. Glue down on 1mm chipboard. And again cut it as oval. Check the below images.

Adding metal charms : Prima Marketing-Finnabair Mechanicals Metal Embellishments

Theses are the 3rd layer paints.

Inside of frame i use Lindy's Spray. Or instead of canvas coloring use mixed media design papers.

Again and again decorating :-) with DMC mixed size pearl beads. Use glossy gel paste for perfect transparent glue.

Finally adding few words from Tim Holtz word stickers
I am filling empty space or use any fussy cut of your favorite image

And Finally i altered this beautiful frame.

I was inspired Finnabair mixed media projects :-)
I hope you enjoyed my project today

DMC Stencils grab bag!

Helloo...
Rupa here this THURSDAY with an upcycled project using the newly launched stencils by Crafters Corner!

Yes...these are DRESS MY CRAFT STENCILS (set of 12) amazingly intricate stencils.

These are A4 size stencils and can be used in many many ways...your creativity, your imagination and these stencils can create some amazingggg projects!
Here is one stencil that I have played with for this entire project! The beauty of these stencils is that there a a lot of elements in one stencil, there is a focal point and in the back ground, there are other small elements too which can be used separately or as a whole!

For today's project, I have upcycled an old wooden stool, a heirloom from my native place which is sure  to be more that 75 yrs!

Well at the end, this looks even more antique and precious and ofcourse a statement piece!

Let's jump start to the process...

I start by sanding the top and then apply a coat of gesso. Once dry, I have used the stencil and done a double shaded stenciling using chalk paints.

Next, using modepodge, I have decoupaged a floral tissue on top of the stenciled area. It amazing how the stencil work is seen thru the tissue!

Here is a close up of the tissue decoupaged on top of the stenciling! I love how vintage it is already looking!

I have then masked all the 4 sides and then done some distressing using  brush and paint.

I stenciled some little elements from the stencils on all the four sides and repeated the decoupage of smaller prints on the 4 sides.

Using some home made modelling paste and the same stencil, I have created texture on all the 4 sides. The intricate pattern of the stencil gives a nice, crisp texture!

Once the modelling paste is dry, I mask the sides again and have used chalk paints to created a shaded look .

Time to remove the masking tape and revel the final look! I did some dry brushing to highlight the textures and also to give some age to this project!

Then sealed the entire project with 2 coats of varnish and the stool was ready to make an appearance!

I love how this ONE STENCIL has helped me give this project an antique and priceless look! You can get creative and use the stencil in more than one way! I have combined decoupage with stenciling to create this project and loved the outcome!
Do let me know your thought about this project and GRAB that BAG of STENCILS today!

I will see you see you soon with more inspirations on these stencils!

Until my next creative journey,
Happy crafting and recycling.
Cheers.

Altered Bird House

Hi Crafty Friends! Again Suzna here. I hope you are ready for more of inspiration :-).
Today I'm sharing an altered Bird house, I made using lots of different Creative Embellishments, like metal charms & flowers. This was really fun to create with especially Prima marketing art mediums

Inside of the frame was not heavy with mediums, but heavy with lots of flowers :-)
I have to admit - effects were simply breathtaking: all the different colours, textures and compositions made this bird house totally unforgettable for me. I think i may be tempted to make one more project with prima art mediums..

Here is Step by Step details
**************************

1. When i got this frame, i was confused. How to decorate this bird house. But the Prima marketing mediums gave more confident to go forward.

2. I started off by gluing all the metal emblishment pieces onto the outside and inside the frame.

3. I painted everything with two coats of Black gesso

4. When the gesso was dry, i took 3 colors of iridescent Mica powers. And i made the metalic paste by mixing with Modeling paste.
1st Lilac Opal Magic with Modeling paste
2nd Peach Opal Magic with Modeling Paste
3rd Gold Opal Magic with Modeling paste

5. This is the way i made the paste. Very small amount of 3 separate mix. bcoz only we need to touch up with brush

6. After this process i feel i need more color layer required, so i took Acrylic Dark velvet. And i painted only on edges

7. Final layer coloring : Metallique Wax

8. Next part is decorating inside: Why i choose pattern paper inside, bcoz this metal frames are shadow box. And i dont like again dark inside.

9. Only 1 12"X12" paper is required for covering inside all sides

10. Prima paper vine flowers are always perfect for decorating roof of this house. And i forget to tell you, i choose gel mediums to fix the metal charms.

Hot glue is problematic though - it chips off! It won't stay permanently on any acrylic, glass, metal or plastic element, especially if there's a lot of water around it! My option is securing my embellishment with the coat of Modeling Paste or gel mediums.
And hot glues are perfect for gluing paper flowers :-)

11. Adding lots of different size paper flowers, like layer

This way my altered frame was fully decorated on the outside  inside, and quite pretty I have to admit, even without any photo or item inside... but of course I couldn't resist and for the photos I had to add something inside

12. Final touch were done with colored micro balls and matte finish mode podge.

I hope you've enjoyed the project
