Prima Garden Fable Journal - Shabby Chic - Vintage Style

A very Good morning to everyone..
I hope you guys are doing good...Well I am sure you must be knowing that Dress My Craft products were featured on famous Dusty Attic Website...Yayy...That's an amazing news and Dress My Craft is coming up with really nice class of products very soon...so Stay tuned..

So coming up to my today's post, I am going to make a Shabby chic Journal. This is basically the continuation of my previous post in which I have made mixed media tags..
I am sharing the link if you have missed watching the tutorial..

http://crafterscornerindia.blogspot.in/2017/02/mixed-media-tags-creating-basic-mixed.html

And now carrying on this, I have made a journal in a very shabby-vintage style which will hold these tags..And not only this I am also going to do Cross Stitch Binding...and how to use Rub-ons..
Cross stitch binding is very famous and has been used in many books binding over the years and now a days it is popping up in junk journals. I have done it in very simplest form using 4 signatures that means four pages.
Rub-ons You can consider rub on as temporary tattoos..they give really nice accent to your scrapbook pages, card layouts, mixed media background..etc. While they are one time only but quite economical so you can have a variety of them in your stash. The best thing is that you can use it with embossing powder, foil to give awesome effect to your layout.

First let's see what I have created...

So get ready for the creative fun..there is the showcase of the journal at the end of the tutorial video..so don't miss it!!

Here is the list of products used..

I hope you enjoyed watching...please do leave your comments and love..

A round up with PLAID

Good morning!
Rupa here. Today I have a round up post of all the PLAID projects that I made from June’16.
As you know, I love to recycle found objects and household trash in all my projects and all of this was given a new life with the lovely product range from PLAID. I love paints and I am so glad Shalini noticed this love of mine and has given me ample toys from PLAID to play along!
Multi surface paints, Chalk paints, Blending gel, Texture paints, Squeeze tools, Modge Podge, Waxes, Varnishes to name a few that I have played in the last few months.
Here are some of the works with all these products.
The multisurface paints were great to work on metal, wood, paper but I most enjoyed it on glass. Infact, it adhered so well on to glass even without gesso.

You can see on the 2 honey bottles that I have altered.
I have also used them as sprays on this mixed media keep sake box!

The Modge Podge has been a regular play mate in most of my projects as I have decoupaged pattern paper, tissues and even fabric with it!

The squeeze tool or the comb tool is another of my favorite of the lot that I received. This was so cool to use on varied substrates and also for different purposes.

I have used on wood, card board boxes, and also on paper to create mixed media backgrounds. This tool enables you to make quick textures on anything.
Here are a few works with the texture tool.
Texture paints are also awesome to work with, whether it’s the instant snowy look or giving the moss texture to your altered project.

My Christmas projects were a big hit with the texture white paint from PLAID. Here they are…
Coming to Chalk paints…I just LOVE them. I have to admit, the paints are so thick you don’t have to feel guilty adding some water to them. In 2 easy coats you have complete coverage on whatever item that you are working on! The best thing when you use chalk paints is that you don’t have to prime the surface! Maybe that’s why I love working with them!

So far, I have used these paints, waxes and varnishes only for home décor purposes and on wood. I intend experimenting with them on other surface too…soon!
Here are a few makes with the Chalk paints.
I would like to thank all of you for your continued support and encouraging words on my works till date and hope to inspire you with more in the near future.
Here is a link to my blog where you can see more of my works.
I just have one question for you…” Is there anything in particular that you like me to work with or anything you think that I should experiment/explore, do let me know”.
This is going to help me immensely so I can work on those lines. I hope to hear from you all on this.

Until my next creative journey,
Happy crafting and recycling.
Cheers,
Rupa

Mixed Media Tags- Creating basic mixed media backgrounds/Stamping-Heat Embossing/Doodling

Hi my dear crafty friends...

How you guys are doing?? I am sure you are loving groove golf tools and sequins from Dress My Craft..These are few amazing product...and so much more exciting is coming soon
so stay tuned with some more new launch from DMC..

Also the search for DMC brand new design team is going on..so good luck to all the participants :)

So, I have a one big project for February month and I have divided it in two parts...So today I am presenting the first part which is about basic mixed media tags. Basically this post is for new or aspiring crafters. There are hundreds of techniques now and for that thousands of products are available in market...so it is very important to understand the correct use of each and every product before you invest. Before I start I will tell what all I am going to cover in this project..

1. Basic background creation with Prima marketing- Art essential mixed media products like Modelling paste, white sand texture paste, 3d Gloss gel, heavy black gesso

2. Stamping and Heat Embossing

3. Doodling- You will learn how doodling can enhance your mixed media projects and how it can be used to create beautiful and arresting designs.

4. And last is dressing up your tags- It is very important how you are embellishing the project and this is one of my favorite part.

I will mention the product details at  the end of the project.

Here is what I created, I have used Prima's Garden Fable and Tales of you & me collection for making the base of the tags.

In all these tags I have tried to cover basic techniques to create textured backgrounds and stamping with heat embossing... So if you are a journal or mixed media lover then also these are few elementary things which you should know.
Also I will be doing little bit doodling which is again a fun part and you will see how you create some nice effect on your background.

So without taking much time, presenting you the video tutorial.

I hope you all enjoyed watching it. Please do share your reviews.

Here is the list of  products,

  • For background texture effect: I have prima mixed media kit which has around 5-6 types products. I have used below three products

  • Stencils
I feel stencils are not always required while creating background texture, It all depends upon your choice and requirement. I preferably use Tim Holtz Stencils..almost every design is available at Crafters Corner, The one which I used in this project are

  • Stamps, Ink Medium & Embossing Powder

  •  Paper pack
