CAS Card By Mallika

Hello Folks ,
Today I have prepared a CAS Card .
I have always been the heavy embellished one . Making this one was a real challenge . Recently I have been in love with the CAS cards  .
This card has been made using Spellbinders Rose Creation dies .
I have used following distress inks -
Gathered twigs
Walnut Stain
Festive Berries
Vintage photos .
Sometimes I really wonder "kya cheez banayi hai TIM ne ?? "Distress inks totally transform the project .
I have been very nervous about heat embossing , But this month all my fears have gone .
The sentiment has been heat embossed using Ranger Heat Tool and Ranger black embossing powder .
The flower have been doodled using some flourish stamp and Versa mark pen and versa mark ink pad .  The are embossed using large embossing tool on perforating pad  .
For any queries regarding this mail to info@crafterscorner.in

All About Heat Embossing

Hi All,

We, at Crafter's Corner are working very hard to showoff one of a kind technique which has wowed us all.. That's heat embossing! You have seen many tips and tutorial this whole month about heat embossing. We have received so many queries about this method. I hope this post will help some of our crafters to get well versed with it.

What is heat embossing?

Heat embossing is a method of raising the stamped image. It is achieved by sprinkling a special powder called embossing powder on wet image and heating the powder till it melts and bonded to the paper. It gives a shiny dimension to the paper and an inexpensive method to make elegant and classy handmade cards.

Embossing can be achieved on different types of surfaces, ribbons, vellum, metal, fabric, ceramic, acrylic. Embossed images are everlasting and do not fade away with heat, light, or time.

Must have supplies:

1. Heat gun: A special type of craft tool which is perfect for achieving this effect as it emits a balanced heat temperature. It doesn't have a fan otherwise the powder will blow off from the stamped surface
2. Embossing powder: There is a wide variety of embossing powders available such as fine, extra fine, glittered, metallic, etc. These come in various colors also from solid colors to colorless. Type and color is purely depends on your choice. Clear one is most commonly used. EP comes in a small bottle but with that tiny bottle you can make 100+ cards.
3. Embossing ink:
Versamark-type or pigment ink: These inks take longer to dry and are sticky in nature. This will hold the embossing powder while you tap off the excess powder from the cardstock.
4. Stamps: Any make and type will work
5. Cardstock or paper: Non textured.

Good to have supplies:

1. Versamark Pen: Versamark ink in the form of pen. Write your own sentiments, doodle something and emboss it. You can ready everything about Versamark Pen
Here.
2. Distress Inks: non-toxic, fade resistant, water-based dye inks and produce a magnificent effect with heat embossing
3. Anti-static bag/Pouch – Sometimes known as embossing buddy, will reduce the static on the cardstock. Hence, prevents stray embossing powder from sticking to the non-stamped area. An alternative to this is to remove the powder from unwanted area by using a paint brush
4. Embossing Tray – Embossing trays are made up of plastic which has a funnel at one end. This aids in moving the powder back to the bottle after use. This can also be achieved by tapping of the excess powder onto a printing paper. Fold it into a funnel to pour the powder back to the container after use.

Do’s and Don’ts:

1. Keep you gun about 4-6 inches away from the image while melting the embossing powder
2. Wash your hands first. Otherwise natural oils from your fingertips will transfer on the paper and embossing powder will stick to the nonstamped area
3. Don’t focus at one area for too long. It might burn your embossing powder rather than melting it
4. Use Detailed/Fine embossing powder to emboss intricate design and regular embossing powder for thicker designs
5. Turn on the heat tool few seconds before heating the powder to reach to a constant temperature

Different Techniques and uses:

1.
Resist Embossing
2. Embossing with Stencils
3. Water Wash Technique
4. Chalk board technique
5. Cracked Glass
6. Make your own Embellishments - Mannequin, Flowers
7. Selective embossing

Crafter's Corner is packed with heat embossing supplies. Do check it once and you will get confused which one to buy. :D

Tile pattern card

Hello everyone!!
its kavitha here to share another inspiration for this months theme "Expression of love" and heat embossing.I had a totally different thing in my mind while starting,it dint work well and then i tried another idea and again it dint end up as i thought and finally i tried a regular embossing resist technique and  realized nothing new in it.Finally i combined all 3 ideas and made this card, its one of rare moment where you start with something in mind and end up with totally something different..but who cares, crafting is always fun when experimenting and yeah the result will be totally surprising.

I have cut the embossed-inked background paper into 1 inch squares, placed them  on a white background paper  and made a tile pattern. The heart is made with crackle technique where first you have to stamp the design and then apply embossing ink all over apply embossing powder and heat it.Repeat this 3-4 times and keep it in the freezer for 5 mins and take it out and just fold it in different different direction,it gives a beautiful crackled effect. The butterfly is heat embossed on vellum. So hope you like this happy card, for any doubt or queries leave a comment below,i will be happy to help you.

Supplies used:
 VersaMark Watermark Stamp Pad
American crafts zing embossing powder-white
Distress inks-Mowed lawn, picked raspberry and mustard seed.

Hope you all liked my inspiration.Do join us for this month Challenge # 5-Expressions Of Love.

Happy crafting,

Tutorial with Stencils & Heat Embossing! :)

Hi Everyone,
Hussena here sharing with you all a very easy & fun tutorial on Heat Embossing using the Versamark Embossing Pen & Stencils .....You can use ANY stencil to create this whether it be an acrylic or the negatives of your punches or die-cuts...Anything works for this technique..!!..First have a look at the card I have made using this technique :-

The centre flower in this card is done using stencil & embossing ink & powder...so here's the list of things that you will be needing for this tutorial :-

There are actually very few supplies you will require... :
: 1 Stencil
: Versamark Embossing Pen
: Ranger Super Fine Clear Embossing Powder
:Distress Inks -I have used Shabby Shutters, Mustard Seed  Vintage Photo & Tumbled Glass +Memento Pear Tart Dew Drop
:Ink Blending tool
: 1 Mini Mister

And here are the steps :-

Take your stencil & place it on a piece of white cardstock & stick it down on 2 ends using Washi tape/Sticky tape then select the ink of your choice and start coloring your stenciled image using the blending foam ..Try & cover all the area properly..here I have used Mustard Seed  Distress Ink for my flower & Memento Pear Tart for my leaves!

After you have completely colored your image using Distress Inks take your Versamrk Embossing Pen & emboss your image completely with it...Try to cover all the areas properly..This pen is quite sticky & has a malleable tip so its very easy to spread the ink with it & it gives a good coverage.

After you have completely run your pen over the colored image carefully remove your stencil & sprinkle the Ranger Clear Embossing powder over it & try & cover the image completely

Then shake off your excess powder and brush off the powder from the area surronding the image using a paint brush ...Then heat emboss the image using a heat tool ...Once you have heat embossed it you will be able to see a shiny image as shown above

Once your image is embossed you can start creating the background by blending distress inks of your choice  on a craft sheet or an laminated sheet ..Either thing works I am using an laminated sheet :). This is also a kind of Emboss Resist Technique as your image is already colored and embossed you can easily color the background without effecting the main image..I have used Tumbled Glass for the sky and Shabby Shutters to give the grass effect

After the whole panel is colored I have spritzed water using a Mini Mister ...This will help to blend both the inks in the background and gives a very good effect ...This step is totally optional :)
I have created 3 panels using this technique ...The first panel on the right hand side is made using an another stencil and I have clear  embossed the image  first using the Super Fine Embossing Powder from Ranger and heat set it  and then blended the background so the center image is white ...In the 3rd panel (Red one ) I have  embossed the image using White Embossing Powder from Zing ! Doesn't it look so pretty ...Love the monochramatic look !!
And  a look again at how I have assembled the panel on my card :

And also I wanted to show you some fun techniques using the Versamark Embossing Pad and Black colored embossing powder from Zing !

I have taken a plain white plastic button and using a tweezer completely covered it in the Clear Embossing ink ..Then sprinkle the embossing powder of your choice ...Here I have used the  black glitter embossing powder from Zing !Completely coat the button with the embossing powder taking care not to miss a spot ...Then heat set it using a heat tool of your choice .

And Voila you have a nice big glittery button to use ...I also did the same with a metal butterfly I had in my stash and Lo and Behold ...Now I have got a beautiful glittery butterfly ready to use on my project :)

I hope you all like my tutorial and  the fun techniques using the Versamark Embossing Pen/Embossing Pad  and Embossing powder's   ..If you have any queries regarding the technique used here or about any of the product used ..please do leave me a comment or you can mail Shalini at : mshalini79@yahoo.com  and we will get back to you ASAP :)
And now that you have seen the inspiration and various tutorials on heat embossing from all the DT's at Crafter's Corner ..We would love to see your take on it ..So why don't you link up at our current challenge "Expression's of Love" set by our DT member Shalini and stand a chance to win A versamark embossing pen,and the clear embossing powder from Ranger as well the Black embossing powder from Zing :)

EMBOSS RESIST AND EMBOSSED EDGES--A Tutorial

Hi Friends,

Its Anita here with a tutorial highlighting upon two heat embossing techniques as the theme this month is  all about heat embossing.
These two techniques are resist embossing and embossing the edges of spellbinders labels or nestibilities.
This tutorial will also show how the Versamark Watermark pen can be used to add subtle shades to your project and also its use as a correction pen.

So lets begin.

                                                              Gather all the supplies

Apply the Versamark watermark pad all over the background stamp
                                                             and stamp on the envelope

Using the heat tool dry the stamped area.

Now using the distressing applicator, distress with Tumbled Glass and the more you distress
the background will become more prominent.

Then distress with Shabby shutters. You can now clearly see the embossed background.
This method is called Resist Embossing.

Now using the Versamark watermark pen add shades on the background.

Draw all over the edges of the die cut using the watermark pen.

Put embossing powder and fully cover the edges.

Use the heat gun to see the edges turn into a nice glossy bordered edge.

Do you see the areas where the powder has not stuck?
Here comes the correction pen--aka the watermark pen.
Simply apply on the non-embossed parts.
rinkle EP again and heat and here you get a fully embossed edge.

Apply the embossing pad all over the sentiment stamp.

Now put the Black embossing powder.
Heat it with heat gun and see the beautiful embossed sentiment. Distress with shabby shutters.
Put it on your embossed envelope. Decorate with mulberry flowers and blings

VERSAMARK WATERMARK PEN----A REVIEW

Hello.

Its Anita here and today I will introduce a new product called the Versamark Watermark pen. You all are familiar with watermark embossing pads. Well, it is the same thing but in pen form.
A fantastic must have for all those who love heat embossing or adding a new look to their image.

This double tip marker from Tsukineko has two ends-brush tip for wide area embossing and shading and a fine tip for minute details, writing etc. The pen is extremely versatile, rightly named so because of its wide range of usage.

Let me list down its various uses.

1. It can be used to create watermark images on card or any background, is great for esp subtle backgrounds.

2. Its ink is a little tacky , hence, embossing powders, pearl powders and chalk sticks well to it.

3. Since it has two pen tips, you can even make your own embossing images by handwriting, doodling or even partial embossing on a particular image.

4. For extra shine on certain areas on your image or patterned paper, just work on those areas with the pen and you get a toned shiny image.

5. This is extremely pocket friendly.

6. This pen can be used to correct your embossing mistakes. For example, If a particular part of your area or image for heat embossing, does not have the powder stuck to it, then simple use water mark pen in that area, put a little embossing powder, and the mistake is corrected.

7. This pen can also be used to give nice embossed edging to any die cuts or labels.

8. The pen is acid free and quick drying.

9. You can use the fine tip to trace on any font and make nice embossed wordings for your cards.

here is a video showing you the watermark pen in action.

Here you can see how the pen is used to add another shade to an image.

Another video shows how to add your design elements to any image using the versamark waterpen.

This video shows how to add shading or another tone to your stamped or other image.

I have used Versamark Watermark pen here in this card. Please note the golden edge around my sentiments, done with Versamark Watermark pen.

So, do not be afraid of heat embossing now. Even the smallest details are easy to be inked and embossed using the Versamark Watermark pen.

This is available at the Crafters Corner Store and along with it you can also get a wonderful range of heat embossing materials right from the heat gun to embossing powders in a wide range of colours.

Any other information about the watermark pen can be gathered at info@crafterscorner.in

Also our Challenge #5 is all about heat embossing and so you can also win a pen for yourself by taking part in it.

Please note that all the information featured here are all gathered from the net and from the experiences of various crafters from around the world. If you feel that there is more to this pen, than explained here, please feel free to tell us at our Craft Demos page on FB or by leaving a comment here.

Thanks to all and Happy Crafting!!!

Creating A House Shape Photo Album and Creating Small Tag Using Clear Embossing Technique

Hi
Today i'm going to show you all how to make this mini house photo album. It's a small house little special because it is also a photo album!!!!!!! It opens and inside are two large photos, but that's not all... because under the roof there is another mini album  space for 4 small photos. Isn't this exiting!!!!
So Let's start...

Measurements are width  5cm, 10cm, 5cm, 10cm, height  16cm, 5cm and Decorate the house-album inside adding two pictures and embellish according to ur choice.

measurements are width  20cm, height  8cm and then punch a hole  and fold it in half , the rectangle and will be the roof of the house.

measurements are width  28cm height 7cm  and four fold in the little album that will be under the roof.Glue the four small photos in the album of the roof.
Put the little album inside the roof of the house and match the holes and enter a ribbon.
To close the house make two holes in the outer walls and put a ribbon closure with the tag.
Now place the roof of the house.

To Make the Tag using Clear Embossing Powder

First of all take offwhite base cardstock( matt finish)stamp it with the embossing pad and then sprinkle the clear super fine embossing powder and then heat it with the heat tool and then distress it with the distress ink colour of ur choice (and you will notice that on the emboss area it will not colour-that's the beauty of this technique). Same technique used here also.

I hope u all will like the tutorial
For any query regarding any technique and product please contact at info@crafterscorner.in
