Glitters and Pollen

Hi friends, Dr Sonia here sharing a desktop organizer featuring Graphic 45 papers and a floral arrangement jazzed with gorgeous pollen and glitters from Dress My Craft.

The  lilies were made with Heartfelt creations  Sunrise Lily stamps and dies .The Pink-peach ones were made using Dress My Craft floral exotica papers and made to sparkle using "sparkling dust".The white lilies were made by stamping and heat embossing on parchment paper and the lovely centers are from the new pastel pollen collection from Dress My Craft .

The cute bottle has "micro mini pearls" and "little hearts" both Dress My Craft best sellers! Can you guess how the little butterfly sparkles so beautifully ?....well yes I used my favorite Rainbow glitter from Dress My Craft !
The beautiful  range of Dress My Craft brand glitters and pollen  available now is simply amazing. I especially love the styrofoam buds....not only are they fabulous to make rose buds, roses and other flower centers but they are fabulous to use as stand alone pollen too.

The styrofoam pollen is available in 2 varieties- pointed and round and in a lovely range of sizes .
Sharing a simple pictorial on how you can use them to custom make the perfect matching embellishments for your project.

Since my flowers and papers were distressed with "worn lipstick" Distress Inks  I wanted  pollen to match  !
Here is a simple pictorial :
Sponge Distress Inks  on the styrofoam buds.

Use a quick drying and clear drying tacky glue. I experimented with different glues and loved the way Elmer's Craftbond worked here...it was fluid enough to get a nice thin layer of glue and tacky enough to hold all the chunky glitter.

After applying dots of glue use a brush or your little finger to smear the glue evenly.

Now comes the fun part...dunk the styrofoam bud into the jar of rainbow glitter chunks! And there lies the importance of using a nice thin layer of tacky glue. If you use runny glues - you can spoil your glitter .

Lift up the bud and you have a gorgeous custom made flower bud which shimmers beautifully !

Stick it onto a sponge and leave to dry. Elmer's craft bond dries fairly fast so it is perfect for impatient crafters!

In this project the white rounded buds were made by just smearing glue and dunking in rainbow glitter chunks .

I also made dazzling butterflies  with rainbow glitter!

It was fun to experiment with different colors ...some turned out so yummy! The gorgeous green buds were made after sponging with mowed lawn Distress Inks  and adding rainbow glitter.

I experimented with all the Dress My Craft  glitters and got different results with each!

Here you can see the "frosted" look which you can get using  "microfine glitter".

I used Aleene's tacky glue here and though the adhesion is good ...it is a rather thick glue and you need to be more patient to get an even coverage and not leave lumps of glue in certain areas.

Like earlier...dunk the glue smeared bud into glitter and lift it out .

The microfine glitter gives a beautiful frosted look!

In this project the flowers and leaves were painted with E6000 spray adhesive and dusted with "sparkling dust".E 6000 spray adhesive is a nice watery glue and you can either spray the glue or for better control--open the bottle and pour a bit into a container and use it to paint your flower petals and leaves.

My lilies have ready-made cute pollen centers . I just love the unique pastel shades of pollen now available at Crafters Corner and  they are available in individual and value packs too.

I hope you liked the ideas to jazz up and customize your projects by making perfect matching embellishments plus my tips on adhesives
