DIY Custom Made Embellishments

Origami Box
Hi friends Dr Sonia here with a 3 D project that takes me down memory lane of my DT stint at Crafters Corner as it features some popular products I have demoed from Crafters Corner in the past with detailed tutorials!

The star of this Origami Box is a large paper peony[ will share its tutorial soon] with leaves made using the Flower Punch Board .
Here are links to tutorials using the Flower Punch Board
Here are the links to Sospeso Trasparente tutorials

This is how the origami star box looks like  before its dressed up and embellished. I used a Martha Stewart Beaded Ruffle Border Punch on the flaps of the box .

Ever since Shalini sent me the best "pick up tool", the Crystal Katana ...I have been adding pearls galore to all my projects as handling all those tiny pearls is so easy with it.

In case you missed the post ...here is the link
Crystal Katana
Making your own embellishments to match your project is not only economical but super fun and gratifying too! I added handmade silver "metallic" embellishments to all the flaps and corners of my origami box.

You can use air drying clay and silicon molds to easily make your own DIY embellishments.
Handmade Clay Embellishments
Cheap air dry clay comes in some pretty bright colors  and the purple and red bows I had made looked too colorful to use in any project till I transformed them into Silver Charms!
You can completely change the look of  your handmade clay embellishments using sophisticated paints such as Liquid Leaf .
Here is the link to the detailed post on Liquid Leaf
Liquid Leaf
I used Silver Liquid Leaf  to create metallic embellishments which looked like our popular metallic charms but were ideal to use on paper crafts as they were made of lightweight clay!

Since Liquid Leaf has a nice thin and flowing consistency...none of the details of the clay embellishment were lost even after painting.

The lid of my origami box has foam sandwiched between its layers for added strength

I used the gorgeous Lemon Craft Dreamy Mornings pattern paper to make this origami box and this type of box is ideal to showcase any pretty double sided paper you may be hoarding!

I hope you liked this simple project and a recap of the tutorials.
